ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, organized a ‘Awareness-cum-Workshop on MY Bharat today. The event is a part of the broader 100-day action plan initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs under the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) scheme, aiming to empower and educate the rural population. The event aimed to bridge the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agricultural practices, ensuring that the local farming community is well-equipped to face contemporary challenges.

The programme covered topics like integrated pest management, soil health improvement, water conservation strategies, processing, value addition, and Artificial Insemination, with demonstrations showcasing their practical application, allowing farmers to witness the benefits of these techniques. The workshop also highlighted various government schemes and subsidies available to farmers under the MY Bharat initiative. This information is crucial in helping farmers access resources and support that can enhance their productivity and income.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion session where farmers shared their experiences, concerns, and suggestions with KVK Ri-bhoi experts, ensuring a two-way exchange of ideas to address the specific needs and challenges faced by Ri-Bhoi farmers.

A total of 45 farmers representing 22 villages of the Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya attended the programme.
