Skill Development Training on Manufacturing of Jute Handicrafts and Bags

A 7-day skill development training on ‘Manufacture of jute handicrafts and Bags’ sponsored by Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Katihar, Bihar was organized at ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata from June 7th-13th 2024.

Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, highlighted the recent technologies developed by the institute for the quality production of jute fibre and the manufacture of diversified value-added products. He emphasized the future collaboration with ATMA, Katihar for the execution of various extension activities for the improvement of the livelihood of jute growers.

Dr. L.K. Nayak, Head, Transfer of Technology Division, briefed about the transfer of technology activities and entrepreneurship development through processing & value addition in jute & allied fibres.

Shri. S.K. Jha, Deputy Director, ATMA, Katihar, spoke about the work done by the ICAR-NINFET for the betterment of jute growers of Bihar in terms of technological intervention, support and guidance.

A training manual was released by the dignitaries and an MoU was signed between ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata and ATMA, Katihar Bihar for future collaboration work.

30 farmers associated with jute cultivation and processing and two 2 officials representing ATMA, Katihar, Bihar participated in the programme.
