23rd - 24th July, Jabalpur

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone IX, Jabalpur, organised a 2-day training-cum-workshop for horticultural experts of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, on 23rd -24th July 2024.

Dr. S.R.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, emphasized the need for interaction between research and extension scientists working under the ICAR-KVK system to transfer profitable technology to the farming community.

Dr. Nagendra Rai, Director, ICAR-IIVR,  highlighted the importance of horticultural crops in changing climate to sustain the livelihood of the farming community. He stressed special attention on INM, and IPM to get quality produce.

Dr. Dinkar Prasad Sharma, Director, Extension Services, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, urged reducing the cost of cultivation with good research and its implementation in the field.

Dr. Ajay Verma, Director of Extension Services, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, accentuated production and packaging needs from an export point of view.

Dr. Shalini Chakraborty, HRD nodal officer, ATARI, Jabalpur, focused on market-led agriculture instead of production-led agriculture.

About 40 horticulture experts from various districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the workshop.
