ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora, organised a 5-day (22nd - 26th July 2024) training programme on ‘Protected Cultivation for Enhanced Agricultural Benefits’ under the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan scheme for the farmers of the village Pandechor Alchona of district Nainital. The programme aimed to provide farmers with advanced techniques and knowledge to enhance agricultural productivity through protected cultivation methods.

Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, inaugurated the event and highlighted the institute's contributions to the holistic development of Hill agriculture in the region through protected cultivation. He urged the farmers to utilize off-season vegetable cultivation to gain maximum monetary benefit per unit area.

Dr. Gaurav Verma, Nodal Officer, SCSP, urged the farmers to learn and adopt scientific practices of crop production under polyhouse and marketing to achieve the best price for the product.

The programme provided participants with enhanced learning experiences and an enhanced understanding of protected cultivation topics and field exposures. 

The exposure visit provided practical insights into successful protected cultivation practices, followed by a feedback session where participants shared their experiences and learnings. A scientific dialogue involving all resource persons was conducted, followed by the valedictory function and certificate distribution by the delegates.
