Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilisers Conducted Across ICAR-ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad

A comprehensive campaign on the balanced use of fertilisers was successfully implemented across ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone X, Hyderabad, today, demonstrating strong outreach, coordination, and impact at multiple levels.

The campaign covered 72 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and featured 39 awareness programmes along with 2 field-level events. These initiatives directly engaged 1,632 farmers, while the total physical outreach reached 2,620 farmers. In addition, 279 farmers visited KVKs to seek technical guidance, highlighting strengthened linkages between farmers and extension systems.

Significantly, the campaign leveraged digital platforms to expand its reach, connecting with 1,51,771 farmers, thereby amplifying awareness on a large scale. The integration of field-based activities with digital dissemination ensured wider knowledge transfer and improved accessibility to critical agricultural advisories.

At Bramhasamudram, farmers and officials were sensitized on the adverse effects of imbalanced fertiliser application and the importance of adopting Soil Health Card-based recommendations. Meanwhile, an Extension Personnel Training Programme conducted at Narsaraopeta trained 136 participants and facilitated the collection of 38 soil samples. The programme emphasized Soil Test Crop Response (STCR), Soil Test Based Recommendation (STBR), and crop-specific Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) practices.

Overall, the campaign significantly enhanced awareness regarding balanced fertilisation, promoted scientific soil health management, and encouraged the adoption of sustainable and cost-effective farming practices across the region.
