Reinforcing the message that integrity is the foundation of good governance and national prosperity, the ICAR–Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, organised a human chain followed by a walkathon in Manirampore and its adjoining areas today as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026. Observed under the theme “Probity for Prosperity,” the initiative sought to take the message of honesty, transparency and accountability beyond institutional boundaries and into the wider community.

Led by Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation by the institute’s employees, who joined hands to demonstrate their collective resolve against corruption.
Dr Dey emphasised that combating corruption is a collective responsibility that calls for commitment from public institutions, employees and citizens alike. He highlighted the adverse consequences of corruption for institutional credibility, public trust and national development, stressing that integrity, fairness and accountability must remain central to the functioning of every public organisation.

The human chain symbolised unity and shared responsibility in upholding ethical values, while the walkathon carried the message of vigilance awareness to the local community, encouraging citizens to recognise their role in building a transparent and accountable society.
