ICAR–National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad celebrated its 27th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at the institute premises today.
Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of scientific research, innovation, and industry collaboration in strengthening the livestock and meat sector. He emphasized the need for developing sustainable, safe, and value-added meat production systems to meet the nutritional demands of the country and enhance farmer income.

Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-NMRI, welcomed the dignitaries and participants and presented an overview of the institute’s achievements and activities during the past year. He underscored the institute’s contributions in advancing meat science, food safety, technology development, skill training, and entrepreneurship promotion across the meat value chain. He also appreciated the collective efforts of scientists, technical staff, students, and industry partners in taking the institute to new heights.
The celebration provided a platform for interaction among researchers, young professionals, startups, and incubatees working in meat processing, value addition, and allied sectors. The event reaffirmed ICAR-NMRI’s commitment to translating research innovations into field-level applications and supporting emerging enterprises in the livestock sector.

The programme concluded with appreciation of stakeholders and a renewed commitment towards strengthening research, capacity building, and industry linkage initiatives for the sustainable growth of the meat sector in India.
The programme witnessed active participation from institute staff, students, incubatees, and startup representatives associated with the institute’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
