ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur Equips Citrus Nurserypreneurs with Advanced Skills through Specialized Incubation Programme

CitriHub, the Agribusiness Incubation Centre of ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, successfully organized a specialized incubation programme on citrus-based nurserypreneurship for aspiring nursery entrepreneurs from Maharashtra. The programme was designed to develop technically skilled and market-ready nurserypreneurs capable of producing high-quality citrus planting material and establishing sustainable nursery enterprises.

As an integral part of the incubation programme, three incubatees participated in the intensive hands-on training programme. The participants received practical exposure to all major aspects of scientific citrus nursery management, including establishment and maintenance of mother blocks, conventional budding and micro-budding techniques, containerized nursery production, nursery accreditation procedures, quality standards, market-oriented business strategies, and preparation of bankable business plans. The curriculum combined technical training with entrepreneurial development to enable participants to establish commercially viable nursery enterprises.

During the programme, Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, interacted with the incubatees and reviewed the current status of citrus nursery enterprises in their respective regions. He discussed emerging opportunities, region-specific constraints, and future prospects for quality planting material production. Emphasizing the importance of nurserypreneurship in strengthening the citrus sector, Dr. Ghosh assured the participants of continued technical guidance, business mentoring, and institutional handholding from CitriHub to facilitate the successful establishment and expansion of their enterprises.

The participants expressed their gratitude to CitriHub for providing a comprehensive incubation ecosystem that integrated scientific knowledge with practical entrepreneurial training. They noted that the programme significantly enhanced their technical expertise, broadened their understanding of modern nursery management, and increased their confidence to establish and scale up professionally managed citrus nursery ventures.
