ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management today in Bheeman palle village of Pochampally Mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana.
The programme focused on the importance of balanced fertilizer application based on soil test recommendations to improve nutrient-use efficiency, reduce input costs, and maintain soil health.
Farmers were also sensitized to the benefits of crop diversification and the cultivation of alternate crops, particularly pulses and oilseeds to enhance farm income, reduce production risks, and improve soil fertility. Emphasis was given to the role of diversified cropping systems in building resilience against climate variability and market fluctuations.
Special emphasis was given to the cultivation of green manure crops such as sunhemp and dhaincha for improving soil organic matter, enhancing nutrient availability, and sustaining soil productivity. Farmers were encouraged to incorporate green manure crops into their cropping systems to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and improve soil health.
The interactive session provided an opportunity for farmers to discuss their field-level challenges and receive scientific recommendations. The programme created awareness on sustainable farming practices aimed at improving productivity, profitability, and long-term agricultural sustainability.
